about

I wrote “Storm” in the Spring of 2020, when the pandemic was new. “Storm” is what blossomed from the soil where my entire life was uprooted. In the first spring and summer of the pandemic, I spent nearly every day running up mountains just to feel my heart beating, to remind myself I was still alive. I felt confused, vulnerable, alone, and was searching for purpose and meaning in an unfamiliar reality.

lyrics

All these words of wisdom pouring in
I’ve been sheltered safe and warm
I’m afraid you’re a fair weather friend, my love
And I’ve been asking for a storm

Honey, you loved me
Like it was goin’ out of style (honey, honey)
But honey, you can’t trust me
Could you forgive this reckless child (honey, honey)

Throw me in the ocean
Take me out on the tide
I wanna fight for something
I wanna fight for my life
I wanna be someone
I wanna be terrified
I wanna feel something
I wanna feel alive
Alive

I’m afraid you’re a fair weather friend, my love
And I’ve been asking for a storm

Honey, you loved me like it was growing on the trees (honey)
But honey, you can’t trust me, it’s blowing in the trees (honey)

So take me to the country
Take me into the wild
Oh, get me lost in the woods
I wanna run for my life
I wanna be someone
I wanna be terrified
I wanna feel something
I wanna feel alive
