about

“Sand” is the first song I wrote as I became inspired to return to playing piano for the first time in years. Piano is actually the first instrument I ever played as a child, and the reunion has been incredibly sweet. I love expressing myself with such an emotive instrument. “Sand” is a personal reflection of my soul that explores my relationship with myself and with the people and places in my life. The lyrical themes of sand and beaches mirror waves of emotions and reveal a resolution of independence and freedom.

lyrics

I guess I shouldn’t blame it all on you
It takes two to break through

I guess I had to learn somehow
The missing pieces can’t be found inside of you

I guess I shouldn’t ask
If I’m so afraid to know
I’m drawing circles on a map
Round all the places I could go
I’m drawing circles on a map

I guess you shouldn’t ask if you don’t want to know
I’m writing your name in the sand
On all the beaches where I go
I’m writing your name in the sand

I guess I shouldn’t ask
‘Cause I don’t need to know
I’m running barefoot on the sand
You’re standing in the snow
I’m running barefoot on the sand

I guess I should speak now
Or forever hold my piece
I guess I should leave now
Before the wind catches me
I guess I should reach out
Before the rain comes down on me
I think I am free now
I think I am free now
I think I am free now
I think I am free now
