about

“Give Me a Chance” is one of the oldest songs on the album. I developed the framework when I was travelling through Australia in the winter of 2018/ 19. I almost forgot the song existed until I took it off the shelf in the fall of 2020. Because I use songwriting as a therapeutic method to process events and emotions, oftentimes my songs begin to feel like self-fulfilling prophecies. When I uncovered “Give Me a Chance” over a year later, I finally understood the true meaning of the song and how it related to my own life; it’s the humbling vulnerability of asking someone to give you a chance, and of taking a chance yourself- the daring act of walking through life with an open heart.

lyrics

You are red, red wine
I’ve been drinking white
And if I could bottle the time
I would drink it all night

‘Cause you look at me with something in your eyes
It’s a comfortable truth that I don’t recognize
You look at me with something in your eyes

Please, I’ve never loved like this
Give me a chance, yeah
I never loved like this
Hold my hand

You are just in time
You’ve been on my mind
And if there were a name for this high
I would scream it all night

‘Cause I’ve always wondered if I could fly
But I can’t risk the fall if it’s not worth the climb
I’ve always wondered if I could fly

You look at me with something in your eyes
It’s a comfortable truth that I don’t recognize
You look at me at something in your eyes

I’ve always wondered if I could fly
But I can’t risk the fall if it’s not worth the climb
I’ve always wondered if I could fly

You are red, red wine
I’ve been drinking white
If I could bottle the time
I would drink it all night
